A dieline template is a PDF or Illustrator (ai) file that shows the flat layout of your bag or box and helps you place design elements on different panels of the box. It is a template for a package or bag. It’s a flattened outline of the cutlines and folds. It serves as the package template that ensures proper layout for a printed product. It is a diagram that shows all the cut lines and folds of a package in flattened form. They are also used for envelopes, pocket folders, foam and card inserts. Dieline is highly essential in the die-cutting process, as this will be the main template for the artwork of the packaging. Below are the samples of dieline templates that we have created for our clients based on their unique packaging design, size, printing and insert requirements. *This is a rigid box with magnetic close with custom cut out foam insert and an envelope. Dielines play an important role in the die-cutting process. Think of it as a blueprint that ensures all physical elements of the final printed product, including:

You’ll be able to easily see where all the creases, folds, and other visual elements coordinate with each other on the box’s sides, front and back. These are dielines you could probably run a pencil on. Dieline is essentially being used to any product requiring bespoke packaging. Additional things to consider when creating a dieline template:
